Move your DStv system with a proper plan
Moving a decoder is simple. Moving a working satellite system takes more care. Our accredited technicians relocate DStv equipment within Simon's Town and set it up at the new property. We assess what can be removed safely, what should stay behind and what the destination needs before reconnecting the system.
The new building may have a different roofline, wall material or satellite sight line. A bracket that suited the old home may not suit the next one. We plan the new position around access, signal quality, cable length and exposure to False Bay weather. Where the destination has no usable equipment, the work may follow the same process as a new DStv installation.
Removal at the old address
We disconnect the decoder and approved equipment without pulling cables through walls or leaving avoidable damage. Dish removal depends on access and on whether the dish forms part of the property being vacated. Customers should confirm what may legally be removed before the appointment.
Loose components are kept together for transport. We check obvious wear on the dish, LNB, connectors and decoder leads. Relocation is often the right time to replace a damaged cable or corroded connector, but no extra work is added without discussion.
Assessment at the new Simon's Town property
Properties around Central, Red Hill and Da Gama Park can present very different mounting conditions. Some have exposed elevations. Others sit against the slope with limited clear sky in the required direction. We choose a practical mounting area rather than copying the old arrangement without testing.
A signal meter helps confirm the final dish position and alignment. Outdoor cable runs are secured, joins are weatherproofed and entry points are sealed. If a dish is already installed but does not deliver stable signal, our dish realignment service may cover the required work without a full relocation package.
Decoder reconnection and system testing
At the destination, we connect the decoder, television and satellite feed, then complete the required setup checks. Live channels, signal readings and television input are tested before handover. For Explora systems, we also check the features that depend on the decoder's correct physical connection.
Linked decoders need additional planning. The new rooms, LNB configuration and cable routes may differ from the old home. If you want separate viewing points re-established, review our Extra View installation and tell us how many rooms must be connected.
What to tell us before moving day
Send the collection and destination addresses, decoder model, number of viewing points and whether a dish is already present at the new home. Clear photos of both dish positions can help us identify likely access or mounting needs. Please also mention security access, stairs or restricted working hours.
We provide an upfront quote based on the agreed scope. Same-day service may be available for local moves when you call before 12pm, subject to access, equipment and the schedule. A planned appointment is usually better when two addresses must be coordinated.
A tidy handover at your new home
The relocation is complete only once the system works at the destination. We secure the cabling, test the decoder and explain any changes made to the layout. The installation work carries a workmanship warranty.
We cover Simon's Town locations such as Seaforth, Boulders, Froggy Pond, Dido Valley and Murdock Valley. Contact us before the moving vehicle leaves if possible. That allows the satellite equipment and access arrangements to be included in the day's plan.
