Better coverage starts with a proper assessment
A faster internet package does not automatically fix weak WiFi. Coverage depends on router position, wall construction, interference and the number of connected devices. We assess and improve home and small-business networks in Simon's Town, with a focus on stable coverage where people actually work, stream and communicate.
We identify dead zones, check the existing router location and discuss which devices need the most reliable connection. Thick masonry and multi-level layouts can block wireless signals. If the priority is a smart television or decoder, our TV wall mounting service can coordinate a neat screen position while network cabling remains accessible.
Router, access point and mesh placement
The main router should not be hidden behind dense walls or crowded electrical equipment if better positions are available. Larger or divided homes may need wired access points or a carefully placed mesh system. We recommend a layout based on the building rather than adding repeaters without measuring the result.
Mesh nodes still need strong links between one another. A node placed inside an existing dead zone cannot create a good upstream connection by itself. Where practical, Ethernet backhaul gives access points a more dependable path than wireless repeating.
Structured cabling for stable connections
Ethernet is useful for televisions, desktop computers, recorders and access points that stay in fixed positions. We plan cable routes, terminate points and test agreed links. Neat trunking or suitable concealed routes can keep the installation maintainable without loose leads across rooms.
A CCTV recorder and several network cameras can place constant demand on the local network. Our CCTV installation service includes camera-specific planning, while this service can prepare the network backbone and improve remote access reliability.
Networks suited to Simon's Town buildings
Stone, brick and reinforced walls in Central can reduce WiFi range sharply. Multi-storey homes around Murdock Valley and Simonskloof may need coverage planned by level. We test from the intended work and entertainment areas instead of judging performance beside the router.
Outdoor or semi-outdoor coverage needs suitable equipment and careful placement. Coastal moisture and salt exposure make ordinary indoor devices a poor choice for exposed locations. We discuss the limits of the equipment and avoid promising coverage beyond what the building and internet connection can support.
Streaming, DStv and connected devices
Explora Ultra online features and smart television apps depend on internet performance as well as local WiFi. We can connect suitable fixed devices by Ethernet where practical and check that the network reaches the entertainment area. The streaming subscription and internet service remain the customer's responsibility.
If the decoder itself still needs satellite installation and configuration, see our Explora installation service. Satellite signal faults and internet faults are tested separately so one is not mistaken for the other.
Secure setup and clear handover
We configure the agreed wireless network name, security settings and access points, then test coverage in key rooms. Guest access can be separated where supported by the equipment. We recommend strong passwords and current firmware rather than leaving manufacturer defaults unchanged.
Tell us the property layout, current internet equipment and main problem areas when booking. You receive an upfront quote for the agreed scope. Installation workmanship carries a workmanship warranty, while internet speed and uptime remain subject to your service provider.
